Abstract

Many innovative technologies have been developed in the engineering, design, materials optimization and construction etc. in the last few decades. Robots are increasingly being integrated with working tasks to replace human’s work especially to perform the repetitive task. But still many construction works are being carried out by human workers who take some dangerous tasks. During construction of any buildings, mason involves manually to arrange the bricks and to apply mortar on the bricks to construct wall. Due to lack of skilled workers, labor costs to construct a wall using brick are significantly higher than that of other building materials. Even though skilled workers involves in it, worker related injuries due to accidents, skin fatigue and muscle pain are unavoidable. If design of the project is highly complex, then it leads to take much time or requires good aesthetic skilled workers to complete the project. Many researchers have been proposed to automate the construction work by introducing suitable technologies. It helps to reduce the risk factors of human operation and achieving the good construction work with less cost. The introduction of automation technologies can reduce product cost, improve accuracy, and provide repeatability, increase process speed and profits. If robots are used to perform the repetitive tasks, involvement of workers can be focused on improving the quality and skill based work.
