Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming a rapidly growing field of research. Due to its very high potential, this concept has been incorporated into modern telemedicine systemsenabling patient monitoring at home in the real-time. There are several small and wearable devices available which allow medical signals to be monitored in real-time. The data are then transmitted over the Internet to a medical institution. These medical data can also be stored in the cloud for future reference. In this paper, the authors propose an m-IoT framework that can be used for ECG signal monitoring which is acquired by the patient without any special machinery. The patient uses a mobile electrocardiograph and the readings are transmitted to the medical institution instantly. This work also discusses the security issues like confidentiality, integrity and authenticity.
