Transportation Model in Fuzzy Environment

K.K. Mishra
Abstract

Transportation problem is based on demand and supply of commodities from one source to different destinations. In classical transportation problem it is assumed that the precise values of the transportation cost, demand and supply of the product is known is advance. But in reality all the parameters may not be known precisely because of many uncontrollable factors. In this study we use trapezoidal fuzzy number for the transportation cost which would give solutions according to the situation. The trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are defuzzificated by using linear ranking function proposed by Maleki and a new algorithm is proposed to solve FNTP. This method is easy to apply and can be used to solve FNTP to minimize the objective function. This method is explained with suitable numerical examples.
