A Study on Benefit Realization by Process Improvement Guidance from CMMI Implementation Across Various Organizations

Abstract

Implementation of CMMI is on demand across various industry. Process improvement is an essential aspect of any organization and thus there is a need for study of impact of CMMI on process improvement parameters. This paper focuses on collating the factual data collected through survey to demonstrate that CMMI implementation can result in improvements in schedule and cost performance, product quality, return on investment, and other measures of performance outcome. Moreover, the survey response on these performance outcome parameters is also analysed with regard to sector (Industry)type, CMMI level etc. ANOVA test is performed to test the equality of mean responses obtained across various organizations, CMMI level etc and it was found that CMMI maturity level has impact on improvement of performance indicators. Sector type shows some impact on return on investment whereas agreement on benefit realization has shown significance difference in customer satisfaction and productivity indicators.
