Social Media, Rationale and Academic Output: An Empirical Study

Abstract

Media technology is a power of present society; we are living in the age of information society. Information is a soul of information society and is a basic need of social capital as well. Information communication technology certainly works together for the formation of quality academic environment. The present research is designed with the student's approach to social media research for academic reasons and its positive use of academic achievements. The study positively pointed out the use of social media for academic purposes. Information and communication technologies are one of the most important elements of universities and social media are one of the major applications of information technologies. The present study analyses the relationship between social media and academic achievement i.e. university students use social sites for academic purposes and its usefulness in academic performance. The methodology adopted for the study is consulting and most of the data used is primary in nature. However some secondary data is also used in the study.
