Analysis of Community Needs in Dealing with Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) Pandemic

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has become a worldwide concern. In Indonesia, the plague has become a serious concern by the government. Especially in South Sulawesi, Bone, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to increase. As a result, many community needs cannot be fulfilled. The purpose of this study is to analyze the needs of the community in Bone during the COVID-19 pandemic. The information of this study will later be used for reference in further research. The research began from March 20 to April 15, 2020, researchers conducted a survey using an online questionnaire. This research involved 1502 respondents, using a purposive sampling technique. In general, physical needs are in the medium category (M = 9.61; SD = 1.96), health is in the medium category (M = 9.50; SD = 1.84), psychological is in the medium category (M = 9.64; SD = 1.92), social is classified in the medium category (M = 9.73; SD = 1.86), the economy is in the medium category (M = 9.34; SD = 1.93), and spiritual is in the medium category (M = 9.66; SD = 1.97). The results of this study report that the level of fulfillment of community needs is in the moderate category, so the government must act quickly to overcome the problem. The findings from this study can be used to help people's lives to be more quality and prosperous during the COVID-19 pandemic.
