Numerical Analysis Of Flat Plate Solar Collector

Abstract

Solar flat plate collectors are devices used to collect solar thermal energy and use it for heating applications. Flat plate collectors are popular for low and medium heating applications and there are experiencing constant growth in terms of decreasing size and improved efficiency. Many researchers take lost of efforts to for improving the design, materials provisions and technical aspect of collectors. But very few papers are available for improving the performance of collector with respect to different flow patterns. This paper presents numerical simulation of flat plate solar collectors. And techniques that are employed to improve the efficiency of flat late collectors. For design and working control, simulation is a significant tool. CAD engineers use simulation results to design solar water heating systems, simulation makes it possible to find the ideal design and effective parameters. The CFD tools are used to simulate solar collector to better recognized heat transfer rate. 3D model of flat plate collector is generated by using CATIA V5. The results are obtained by using ANSYS software.
