Abstract

The paper deals with local buckling of slender web of simply supported H-section. The section is laterally unsupported. Classification of section plays an important role in design of Pre Engineered Buildings. Since, Plate elements of a cross-section may buckle locally due to compressive stress. The local buckling of web can be avoided before the limit state is achieved by limiting the depth to thickness ratio. The aim of this paper is to determine at what pressure slender web starts buckling. The analytical study is carried out using ANSYS. Furthermore, dimension of flange is kept constant and within slender limit as specified in IS 800:2007.
