The main purpose of this study is to study the experience of digitalization in the economy foreign countries and Kazakhstan. As methods the authors used General scientific methods. According to the results of the study, it is concluded that the economy of Kazakhstan is characterized by a high potential for the formation of the digital economy, which, in turn, will increase the rating of the state at the world level. The implementation of digital initiatives will improve the position in the ranking of the global competitiveness index on several indicators, increase labor productivity. The recommendations given in this article will be useful for countries that are just starting to launch the digital economy
