Abstract

Electrical Energy is the backbone for all the other sectors of economy as it is required to run various types of industrial loads, commercial loads, offices etc. Thus there has always been demand for uninterrupted power supply in the power sector. But at the same time with limited natural resources such as coal, nuclear, other fuels and their environmental effects power engineer are forced to look for other reliable renewable energy sources such as Solar, Wind and Tidal Energy etc. To maintain the reliability of supply it is very important to have effective energy management system. According to Management thinker Mr. Peter Drucker “You cannot manage what you cannot measure”. He also states that “You cannot improve if you cannot measure it”. Thus in overall scenario in order to manage the available energy effectively it becomes very important to monitor the resources closely. Thus in today’s modern era of Automation and Technology Power Engineers used PLC (Programmable Logic controller) based system for effective load distribution and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) for monitoring them at regular interval of time. This research helps to monitor the uninterrupted power supply and study the real time analysis of voltage of Solar PV module at the same time measure various other parameters such as time for which load being supplied on Solar PV module and battery respectively. In order to accomplish this project PLC is interfaced with hardware and SCADA software is used to monitor the output parameters. PLC being used in this project is Allen Bradley – Micro Logix 1100 and the SCADA Software used is Wonder ware In touch.
