Implementation of Cross Slotted Rectangular Patch Antenna using DGS

Abstract

In this paper, a microstrip patch antenna design with cross shaped slots is proposed. A patch of dimension 16X12 mm is designed and by using Defected Ground Structure (DGS) technique ground is designed with 35 Square structures, each square with 4 rectangular slots. The substrate material used is FR4 epoxy and is operated at a frequency of 6GHz. The dimension of antenna is 31.8X27.6X0.8mm. The cross slotted structure has dimension of 4X4 mm. The results of proposed antennas show better characteristics in return losses, realised gain, radiation pattern and bandwidth.
