Indian Government as well as AP Government have announced new energy policy with an objective of promoting Renewable Energy Sources in public residential houses with Net metering facility. This net metering facility allows generation of renewable energy, its consumption and supply of excess power to the main grid. This requires the Optimal design and control of residential Microgrids and their integration to the main power grid. This paper deals with design and performance analysis aspects of a simple Microgrid construction in the apartments with HOMER GRID software. This paper also demonstrates the Energy Management System that helps to find the optimal operating strategies that helps in minimizing the energy costs and carbon emissions with renewable energy resources.
