Abstract

This paper uses both the photovoltaic (PV) power system and the power grid to obtain the optimum charging plan for electric vehicles in a workplace charging station. Due to intermittency of the solar energy and random Electric Vehicles (EVs) charging requirements planning becomes more challenging. To solve this problem the energy from power grid is considered for optimization. This paper mainly deals with the minimum usage of energy from power grid and maximize the usage of solar energy such that it maximise the benefit to the owner of the charging station. An attempt is made to apply Genetic Algorithm (GA) technique to solve this issue. The results of the GA based charging plan of workplace charging station is presented.
