Abstract

Accounting information systems are needed to support the operational activities of a company. The author conducts research at PT XYZ, in this study the authors make observations of existing systems that have been used by companies with the aim of identifying the problems that occur so that the writer can help solve the problem and create the best solution for the improvement of accounting information systems needed by company. In the process of gathering information, the author uses descriptive analysis method, namely by conducting interviews directly with the company owner and company staff involved in the company's operational activities. From the results of the research that has been done, the writer can conclude that the information system running in this company has several problems that must be resolved because it results in the inability to produce financial reports quickly and accurately. In this company, all financial transaction activities that occur are recorded semi-manually, some of the financial transactions that occur are recorded using the application and some other transactions are recorded in the manual so that when making financial statements the preparation process is very difficult and takes time long. Another problem that occurs is the process of recording financial transactions that are carried out inappropriately and the process of recording transactions is only intended to produce general ledger reports, and recorded transaction data cannot be used to be presented in other financial statements, such as loss reports profit and report on the company's financial position. Based on the results of the analysis of existing problems the author designed an Accounting Information System that can be applied at PT. XYZ to solve the problem.
