Abstract

Pencil beams with narrow beam-width are required for range resolution of targets. In general, all the beams have been connected among the several of side lobes just about main beam. The occurrence of high side lobes sources electromagnetic intervention into Radar receivers caused by close to particles. Under these circumstances the radar system is susceptible to jamming. It is therefore, interesting to design an array antenna in order to generate very narrow beam width with very low side lobes. Different beam shapes are produced from array antennas with the well-designed additional phase distributions. In this work, a new highly tapered phase distribution function is suggested and radiation patterns are evaluated numerically. The resultant side lobes along with a narrow beam width for radiation patterns will be calculated. These low side lobed radiation patterns are useful for the Marine RADAR applications.
