Abstract

The reared pigs are for commercial purposes with a maximum profit target. Many pig breeding technology innovations have been tested, however not many livestock farmers have achieved the target. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of pig farming techniques and the factors that influence it. This research was conducted with a survey approach. The survey research was conducted to obtain data from respondent livestock farmers related to the production factors used in the production process of pig farming and the resulting output. Determination of respondents is done by the stratified proportional random sampling method. Strata were made based on the presence or absence of probiotic supplements in pig rations, with 81 respondents. The efficiency of the technique was analyzed with the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach. The factors that influence the efficiency of the technique are analyzed with the Tobit regression approach. The results of this study that the efficiency level of pig farming techniques with probiotic supplements was higher than without probiotic supplements. based on the results, the recommendation given in this study is that pig farmer farmers adopt a probiotic supplement in the ration to strengthen the efficiency achievements of pig farming techniques.
