The present study aimed to investigate the academic achievement of secondary school students in Lakhimpurdistrict of Assam. In this regard 112 class-IX schools students were selected randomly used descriptive method. Results of the study revealed thatthere is a statistically highsignificant difference between govt. & private students with their academicperformance. The private secondary school students performance are always better than government secondary school students.Whereas students coming from rural/urban background and male/female secondary school students did not show any difference‟s of their academic performance of Lakhimpur district. It means that they have similar level on academic performance.
