Surface Presentation Methods in Geometric Models of Light Devices

Vitaly V. Baynev, Sergey A. Fedosin
Abstract

The article considered the features of an optimal way selection to represent the surfaces of complex objects in modeling systems. The division of objects into simpler constituent elements to achieve the necessary degree of detail is possible as a result of an object representation as a hierarchical structure. This approach is used to model lighting devices. A light device is the root element of the tree. Its parts are also presented in more detail. They also considered the methods of grid construction by which the geometry of such elements is modeled. The work uses the surface approximation by triangular elements - triangulation. A triangulation grid is modelled for this. They considered the methods of triangulation, their essence, advantages and disadvantages and the algorithms for Delaunay triangulation development.
