Effect Of Partial Replacement Of Cement With Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag On The Properties Of Concrete

Dr.K.S.R.Prasad, T.S.Rambabu
Abstract

Leaving the waste materials to the environment directly can cause environmental problem. Hence the reuse of waste material has been emphasized. Waste can be used to produce new products or can be used as admixtures so that natural resources are used more efficiently and the environment is protected from waste deposits. Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag is one of such materials obtained from the blast furnaces that are used to make iron. It is a glassy, granular by-product which is then ground into a fine powder. G.G.B.S has cementitious property, can produce durable concrete in combination with ordinary Portland cement. The objective of the present work is to study the influence of G.G.B.S as constituent in composite cement on physical properties of concrete.
