Abstract

This paper elucidates the association existing between an organization’s performance and Total Quality Management (TQM). The study was conducted among Indian automobile manufacturing establishments. This investigation was carried out in five Indian automobile manufacturing establishments. All of them were set in Chennai. A cluster sampling was undertaken with the size of the sample being 375 employees. These included all the five automobile manufacturing businesses. Data were collected by using questionnaires. The connections existing with regard to the practices of TQM and the outcome of organizational performance were scrutinized by applying correlation analysis. These approaches in the study helped to expose the impact that the practices of TQM and organizational performance have, how they are interrelated, and in what manner these practices influence organizational performance. However, this study has its limitations as it includes only five Indian automobile manufacturing establishments, and all of them are located in a single site, that is, Chennai cluster. Therefore, there could possibly be biased selection, thereby making generalizability of the results inadequate for the all-inclusive Indian automobile sector.
