Sanghamitra Jena, Shradha Padhi and Santosh Kumar Pradhan
Abstract

The low sex ratio or the female to male ratio, is evident in all India. The sex ratio of Orissa has been better than national figure in each census year. However we see a declining trend with successive census in urban as well as rural area. It is the focal point to address consequences upon the society at large. Socio-cultural dimension of the society often leads to sex discrimination. Economic condition also has bearing on this. It is all about the mindset of the people and perseverance of society.
