Abstract

Currently the detection of dental caries and cavities is done by the use of X-ray imaging in the medical field. X-rays tend to have harmful effects on living tissues due to its high energy and ionizing tendency. Hence there is a need for other viable non harmful imaging technique. This paper aims to detect cavities and image them in a low cost and handy apparatus. This technique can be used to distinguish between the healthy and cavity affected tooth samples which would provide the user with a marginal difference between the two types of samples. This particular setup would be handy and also economical enough for the middle class and families in rural areas to afford it. It would also cause no harm as there is no radiation present. We believe dental care is a necessity as it helps to prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease and also helps your teeth to stay stronger with age.
