Abstract

Like India, there are so many most populous countries in the world, where as the ratio of doctor to the people is not enough. Now people are looking for the Internet to solve their first medical problems. But the answers given by search engine are based on the matching of the key words in the question. The process of switching to the present electronic revolution causes recording all the activities in electronic format for future reference especially in medical field. So patient’s medical History are documented by medical professionals in electronic format as Electronic Health Records. These databases are growing fast day by day. It is very difficult for the common man to get information because records are written in medical terms. Our main objective is to examine the Electronic Health Records for the Medicare doubts or questions and to explore the search results based on the lexical semantic relevancy of the query. The proposed lexical semantic methodology isolates the unwanted verbs and nouns from the query and identifies the medical related key terms. Fetching the proper medical terms (phrase) for the user’s key terms using medical ontology and generate the query list. Retrieving the query results based on the highest ranking score for phrase using term weightage based ranking algorithm. This provides an accurate searching result depends on symptoms and efficient information retrieval compared with existing methodologies.
