Abstract

In recent years, Ecuador has developed an important willingness to use endogenous resources. With respect to them, the hydraulic potential of the country stands out. However, so far, only the largest projects have been prioritized. In addition, with the execution of several hydroelectric projects installed in the interconnected national system, the small potentials are relegated, among which those are located in the rivers of the coastal region. In the work, the results of the study of the hydraulic potential in 11 rivers of the province of Manabí are exposed, the projects of electric power generation through water sources means improving the quality of life in isolated areas of difficult access where many communities have Poor energy quality and in other cases they are not electrified. The objective of this research is the study of the hydraulic potential to improve the quality of energy and electrify the communities that are between 500 and 1000 meters of the rivers studied. The geographic information system was used to perform the cartographic analyzes and the location of the points that were evaluated, in addition to the communities studied.
