The Old Man and the Sea Exemplifies the Nobility of the Human Spirit in the Face of Defeat

S. Saikripa and Dr.V. Manimozhi
Abstract

This paper has been called a symbol of humanity. Humans continue to see the odds that persist. It is through his acts that the old man is compared to Christ, who put forward in his life the defence of his actions and beliefs. In action alone he realizes himself, and knows what it is to be a human being. Age, isolation, exclusion, and the difficulty of overcoming obstacles are all central to the theme of actions. Only by deed does he become a masterpiece, and in his struggle, he becomes the mark of a modern hero who can attain discipline, dignity, and even heroism. There are no rewards, and action is all that matters. Action is life, passive death. Dying in the Channel is more commendable than staying away due to the fear of not being able to realize the goal.
