Effect of T6 Solution Heat Treatment for Variable Solution Temperatures and Influence of Intermetallic Particles Addition on the Mechanical Properties of Eutectic Al- Si (A413) Alloy

Abstract

The resent paper the influence of T6 solution heat treatment for variable solution temperatures of 5250C and 5400C on Hardness and Tensile properties of Eutectic Al-Si (A413) alloy with as cast and addition of Intermetallic Particles has been reported. It was observed that as increase in T6 solution heat treatment temperature, increase the hardness and tensile strength of all alloys through investigation. Ductile property has played on immense role and effected. Higher T6 solution heat treatment temperature shows a better distribution of eutectic Si crystals. T6 Solution heat treatment shows better spheroidization when A413 alloy is added with intermetallic particles such as grain refiners (Ti and B) and grain modifier (Sr).
