Factors that Influence Organizational Citizenship Behavior for the Environment (OCBE): Evidence from Malaysian Construction Companies

Abstract

Environmental issues have been a concern by the public, Malaysian government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). This condition demands the contributions of the business organizations as wells as employees to solve the environmental issues. This study examined factors that be the cause oforganizational citizenship behaviour environment (OCBE) in construction organizations in Malaysia. The aim is to examines if environmental values, perceived organizational support and environmental leadership influence organizational citizenship behaviour for the environment. A quantitative research approach using survey was employed to get insights from employees of G7 construction companies in Northern Malaysia. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique was employed to examine the relationship. The results indicated that environmental values, perceived organizational support and environmental leadership influenced OCBE. This study furthers the understanding of OCBE in theconstruction industry in Malaysia.
