Organizational ability for effective governance of IT (Information Technology) practices, and implementation of strategic policies for on-time delivery of superior quality service to business is a challenge for IT industry. An emerging practice for process improvement in recent time is implementation of agile technology, which is basically driven by reuse of practical experience and sharing. This paper focuses on practical experience of challenges being faced on adopting agile in a software industry and providing IT services to their clients in various sectors and domains like telecommunications, retails, travel and transports, financial sector, & government sector etc. Industry wise comparison is done to identify the barriers in adopting Agile. Risk reduction by Agile adoption is also discussed. The results are based on the survey conducted on a group of project managers and subject matter experts across various industry.
